I have worked on the entire risk transfer chain of both life and P&C insurance companies and their product distribution. I am most comfortable with regulation, reinsurance and financing aspects of start-ups. I teach courses in InsurTech Law and Regulation and Insurance Company Solvency Regulation at the University of Connecticut Law School. I manage a small portfolio of about a dozen investments in InsurTech start-ups, including a number of GIA alumni. I practiced insurance law and regulation for 15 years and was an investment banker to insurance companies prior to that. Early in my career, I was an entrepreneur in another industry and am well acquainted with the hard knocks of starting a new business. I am no longer practicing law and am not able to provide legal advice, but practical advice based upon my experience is what I want to share.
